the most powerful and dynamic Rolls-Royce in history |
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed its latest supercar - the Wraith. Unveiled at the Geneva motor show on Tuesday, the V12 engine, 624 horse power car will travel from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and cost more than £200,000 when it goes on sale later this year.
Aimed very much at the luxury end of the market, the Wraith bears more than a slight resemblance to the Bentley Continental, a car beloved by footballers, including Mario Balotelli and Cristiano Ronaldo. The company hopes the new car will help the brand move away from the stately, less agile reputation it has picked up with the powerful, but clunky Phantom and Ghost models.
“Today we launch the ultimate gentlemen's gran turismo, a car that embodies the spirit of Charles Stewart Rolls,” Torsten Müller-Ötvös, chief executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said in a press release. "Wraith's starting point is luxury, refinement and quality, traits that remain as important to Rolls-Royce customers today as they were more than a century ago."
The car features coach doors, a leather interior and features the Starlight Headliner a roof lining featuring 1,340 fibre optic lamps are hand-woven, giving the impression of a glittering, starry night sky.
It also features Satellite Aided Transmission, which uses GPS data to anticipate the driver's next move based on location and current driving style, then selects the most appropriate gear for the terrain ahead.
In addition, it seems we're closer to a Knight Rider style KITT car than before, with voice activation commands at the touch of a button on the steering wheel. You can then tell the car where you want to go, and it automatically loads up the sat nav's directions. See the gallery below for pictures of the new car from Rolls...
