Tim Hortons is taking its coffee, donuts and sandwiches to the Gulf, announcing Saturday it will open up to 120 restaurants in a license agreement with Dubai-based Apparel Group.
The restaurants will open in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar over the next five years, with the Apparel Groupselecting locations.
The Canadian chain has a handful of successful restaurants in the region, prompting the decision to expand, it said. Apparel Group brands include Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Aldo, Aeropostale, Ninewest, and Cold Stone Creamery.
Tim Hortons, traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange, has more than 3,000 restaurants in Canada and 567 in the United States.
